Yes, that’s right! Mercedes Benz really is getting into the pickup truck market – in they’re own way, of course! They’ve made sure to incorporate the same luxury and style that we’re accustomed to. The company, who partnered up with Renault-Nissan for the venture, revealed not one but two X Class concepts, the Stylish Explorer and the Powerful Adventurer.

This is by far the closest we’ve seen to a luxury pickup truck for the European market so far.

With Distinct Style…

Both models feature a five-seater double cab layout, aimed at creating a dual-use vehicle – personal transportation and commercial use. With just one look at the front, you can see that there’s not doubt that these amazing vehicles are made by Mercedes. This is, of course, in part due to the front being dominated by the trademark three pointed star, along with its gaping air intake vents and high, striking headlights.

If we look to the back of the Stylish Explorer, you will, of course, find a ‘stylish’ lighting arrangement that encircles the entire tailgate. However, we must keep in mind this is a concept car and understand that Mercedes will likely replace this with a more conventional set up before production. However, we can certainly hope that they don’t!

Sublime Interior Refinement…

The Stylish Explorer has dashing dark mahogany wood and leather dashboard with a tablet display at the heart of it. There’s can be no doubt that, although this is still a concept car, the X-Class will be a cut above other pickups in terms of luxury.

On the other hand, the Powerful Adventurer concept car has Matte carbon elements with metallic brush surfaces and bold colour scheme. Best of all, to ensure support in different terrains, the seat side bolsters are trimmed with black leather to offer extremely good grip and a soft touch and feel.

And Under The Bonnet…

At launch, you can expect to see a top of the range 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine, all-wheel-drive system and an automatic gearbox to make your life as comfortable as possible. Mercedes Benz have promised the engine has been engineered to develop 261 bhp and 620 Nm of torque.

We can expect a number of other diesel and petrol engines to be made available in some markets, but as of yet, there has been no confirmation.

Prices are also yet to be confirmed, but this is most definitely a game changer for the market. We can’t wait to see what the finished product really looks like..
